USE CASE

AI drones for wildlife monitoring and population management

Wildlife population management is critical for ecosystem balance, agricultural protection, and disease prevention. Traditional methods such as manual surveys or camera traps are time-consuming, invasive, and often limited in scope. To address these limitations, conservation agencies and land managers require a scalable, non-intrusive system to monitor animal populations across large areas accurately.

With AI-powered drones equipped with RGB and infrared (IR) imaging, conservation teams can now monitor animals in real time across vast terrains. Advanced detection and tracking models automatically identify, count, and analyze wildlife behavior without disturbing their natural environment.

Conceptual Design

How our AI and drones work together for wildlife monitoring

*Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with high-resolution RGB and infrared (IR) cameras capture high-resolution video and thermal imagery over predefined survey zones. These feeds are processed in real time using AI models trained to detect, classify, and track wildlife species across varying terrains and light conditions.

The system uses a multi-modal detection pipeline:

  • RGB-based object detection for accurate daylight tracking.

  • Infrared thermal imaging to spot nocturnal or well-camouflaged species.

  • AI trajectory modeling to estimate population density, migration routes, and behavioral patterns.

All collected data is aggregated into intuitive dashboards, giving conservation teams and land managers the insights they need for effective wildlife population monitoring and habitat protection, without disturbing the animals or their environment.
