Driving the future of multimedia innovation

We are proud to announce that Fluendo has been selected as a recipient of a grant Red.es IA cadena de valor 2025 Call for Proposals for R&D in Artificial Intelligence (C003/25-ED), framed within the Digital Spain 2026 Agenda. This achievement underscores our commitment to pushing the boundaries of multimedia technology and supports our long-term R&D roadmap.

This boost will allow us to take our prototype, RAVEN, to the next level through the RAVEN HOOD project, transforming it into a real-time, cross-platform, open-source AI multimedia engine designed to integrate with the most demanding value chains.

What is RAVEN?

The heart of the project is the development of RAVEN, a multimedia inference engine capable of running multiple AI models at ultra-fast speeds. Unlike current solutions, often limited to specific hardware or closed operating systems, RAVEN was built with a commitment to full compatibility.

Key features of RAVEN

  • Full GPU-driven: We maximize performance by running the entire pipeline (preprocessing, inference, and postprocessing) directly on the GPU with audio and hardware-accelerated video support, achieving minimal latencies (target <20ms even in complex scenarios).
  • Multiplatform and Multidevice: Native support for Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and Web (WASM), compatible with NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel hardware.
  • Multilanguage: Flexible integration using C++, Python, and .NET.
  • Open Source (Open Core): True to our DNA, we will release the engine’s core, allowing the community and industry to build on a solid and transparent foundation.

New advanced features

As part of the project, we will develop a library of Fluendo AI Plugins (FAIP) which will include native tasks such as:

  • Multi-object tracking with re-identification.
  • Facial gesture detection and human pose estimation.
  • Multi-purpose segmentation and scene calibration.

Next steps

The RAVEN HOOD project will be developed over the next 15 months, culminating in December 2027 with the official launch of the engine in public repositories.

We’re excited to lead this shift towards more accessible, efficient, and European multimedia AI. Stay tuned to our blog for more technical updates!
